Who is Affordable Housing?

Affordable Housing was established in 1982 to develop, own and manage rental housing for low and moderate income families, seniors and singles/couples. Affordable operates under a Board of Directors made up of business, professional and community leaders. The Board sets policy, approves major transactions and ensures Affordable’s objectives are met. The Head Office is centrally located in Surrey and operates under the direction of an executive leadership team that includes our CEO Stephen Bennett, Finance Director Steve Hoock, COO Glenn Hocking, Meena Hundle CPHR, and our Property Management team.

The society has a portfolio of 62 projects/3,639 units in 13 municipalities, all located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Most of the projects are funded under Federal and/or Provincial government programs so that some or all of the tenants pay rent based on their income. The society does not provide support services though tenants at a few projects can access services on site from other agencies. The family projects all have playground equipment for the enjoyment of the children. The family and seniors projects have amenity rooms for the residents’ use.
